Hey Lady’s! So, when it comes to dancing I always prefer to dance by myself. I just like to do my own thing without getting other people involved ahaha. However, this does not include slow dancing.
As you may know I’m a big hopeless romantic and one thing I will never get enough of is a good slow dance. The only thing is that modern music is so terribly unromantic. So, I compiled a list of romantic oldies to slow dance to if you’re looking for that perfect tune to enjoy with your love, or if you’re just in a romantic mood! Enjoy!
- La Vien En Rose (Life In Rosy Hues) by Edith Piaf
This one is a classic. It’s considered one of the most romantic French love songs of all time and once you give it a listen you’ll understand why. If you don’t have the urge to by a ticket to Paris after listening to this song…listen to it again ahaha
2. I’ll Be Seeing You by Billie Holiday
If you’ve seen “The Notebook” then you’ve heard this song before. It was written in 1938 and loved by many during World War Two, sparking much emotion for those serving in the war and for those they left behind at home.
3. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
Whenever this song comes on, my dad and I get up and slow dance. I guess we could consider it “our song.” It’s so simply written and lovely it’s perfect for any slow dance occasion.
4. Innamorata by Jerry Vale
Ahhhh this one is just so…so damn romantic! That really is the only way to describe it. ahaha Just makes you want to hold your love tight and embrace each other.
5. Embraceable You by Billie Holiday
Here’s another one from Billie Holiday. If you listened to the first one I posted of hers, you will no doubt enjoy this one too.
6. Caruso by Lucio Dalla
Inspired by the Operatic singer, Caruso, Lucio Dalla wrote this song after finding out the the hotel room that he was staying at in the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel in Sorrento, was where Caruso spent some of the last days of his life before dying. Dalla writes about the longings of a dying man while looking into the eye of the woman he loves. Lara Fabian also sings it beautifully and I would highly recommend giving it a watch too.
7. J’attendrai by Rita Ketty
In addition to Edith Piaf’s, La Vie En Rose, Rita Ketty’s, J’attendrai (I Will Wait), was a huge success in France during the Nazi occupation as well. It was originally an Italian song, but was translated into many languages during the war. This version is my particular favorite.
8. Al Di La by Emilio Pericoli
Mmmmm, Italian love songs. Can’t get any better than this!
9. Be My Baby by The Ronettes
This one is bit more upbeat than the others, but it’s still slow danceable ahaha
Yes, I know I only included 9 songs… this is where you come in. Comment below with your favorite slow dance song! I would love to hear what you Lady’s come up with, so we can spread some more love! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
